Saar is a Chrome extension, published on the Chrome Web Store, that shows Claude.ai token usage and cost in real time. There is no backend, so nothing leaves the browser.
It runs in three contexts: a page-context script that intercepts Claude.ai's streaming responses and reads exact token counts, a content script that draws the overlay in a Shadow DOM, and a service worker running a BPE tokenizer.
v1.0.0 cleared Chrome Web Store review in May 2026. v1.0.2 removed a permission Google flagged as unused.
